The HGSA is excited to remind you about the HGSA/SSGSA Travel Grant. This grant, which is separate from the new Dean’s Fund, offers “last resort” funding for Rice Graduate Students in the Humanities and Social Sciences.

We’re especially happy to announce that this year, the grant will not be limited to expenses related to conference or research travel. To qualify for funding, applicants must present a reasonable case that the relevant expense will further their own graduate research goals. This can include, but is not necessarily limited to, conference travel, research travel, and workshop/special training. Applicants may request a maximum of $500 per award. Each student is limited to one award per academic year and priority will be given to first-time applicants. Please note that applicants must exhaust their own departmental funding before applying for the grant.

Applications are considered on a monthly basis, and the deadline for applying for September funding is rapidly approaching: September 1st.
