Kick-off Party

NEXT THURSDAY!!! 4 pm in Rice Gallery. Ends at 6 pm.

Attending Wednesday coffee breaks to talk up HGSA is a good idea, as well as activities fair, and we can pass out information there.

199 humanities graduate students registered for next semester. How many should we expect at the gathering?

Dean Shumway, Prof. Cary Wolfe, and Prof. Rosemary Hennessy will all be there to speak at roughly 4:45 pm.

Volunteers needed for:

setup, service, cleanup, security, and guarding artwork. Nametags, wristbands. Shopping trip.

Michael Heyes will forward St Arnolds logo to Larry and Carolyn.

Publicity:

Larry will make FB page and event. (done)

English letter

Read and voted to approve the letter. Will be email and posted on website.

New Meeting Times

Wednesdays at 6?

Some discussion among representatives and officers. Fridays no good because of periodic brown bags and such.

Should we be before or after GSA meetings?

Third Wednesday of each month. September 18th, 6 pm.

Larry to update G-Calendar and make announcement on website and FB.

Community

Must contact French studies.

Still need representative from Philosophy.

How to Read for Grad School

Tentatively: Lunchtime on Friday, September 13th. No more than an hour. Larry will add to calendar once confirmed with speakers.

Kelly will ask Prof. Caleb McDaniel (Caleb.McDaniel@rice.edu) to help.

Anthony Koth also available to teach from the sheets of wisdom.
